FRAUD WARNING
The Retail Feedback Group (“RFG”) is aware of “phishing” emails encouraging consumers to respond to fraudulent consumer surveys and/or provide mystery shopping services.
What is phishing?
Phishing is a type of online scam that targets consumers by sending mail, email or text messages that appear to be from trustworthy institutions. The messages attempt to obtain sensitive information by asking consumers to reveal personal information, click on malicious links, or open attachments. The scammer then uses the personal information to open new accounts or access existing consumer accounts.
How can I detect a phishing email pretending to be from RFG?
Scammers have emailed surveys to consumers through Survey Monkey, or sent fraudulent letters (sometimes even with checks enclosed), with subjects such as “Join us to Shop and Survey.” These materials usually contain the term “Retail Feedback” or something close to RFG’s name and logo. Emails are sent from fraudulent domains such as “retailfeedback.org” or “refeedbackgroup.com” or “premierads.org.” These communications are NOT from RFG and should be ignored and deleted.
RFG has notified Survey Monkey and appropriate authorities of the fraudulent activity.
What should I do if I receive a phishing email or fraudulent letter pretending to be from RFG?
If you receive a suspicious email, letter, or text message purporting to be from RFG, or a survey from Survey Monkey purporting to be created by RFG, DO NOT respond to the email or click on any links in the email. DO NOT deposit any fraudulent checks. You may file a report with state/federal law enforcement.
