The roots of our company are in the food industry. We started in the early 1970s by providing site location analysis to Northeast supermarket operators. While the banners have changed through the years and our scope of services has broadened to span the entire United States, we remain deeply involved in the grocery arena.
Our broad food retail experience translates into value for our clients in so many ways. We have spoken with millions of supermarket shoppers and understand the dynamics of store selection and grocery shopping behavior. RFG was a pioneer in supermarket employee feedback in the 1990s, developing and implementing the Retail Culture Survey™ in dozens of grocery retailers in the US and Canada. For both customer and employee feedback, RFG has normative data that enable our clients to compare their survey results to industry-specific benchmarks and best practices.
Doug Madenberg, Principal, has spoken and presented research at numerous industry meetings and conferences, including the Food Marketing Institute’s Human Resources Conference and the National Grocers Association’s Annual Convention.
Our other Principal, Brian Numainville, spent more than 18 years with Nash Finch Company, a Fortune 500 grocery wholesaler and retailer, where he developed and managed a comprehensive market research program that offered services to independently-owned and corporate-owned supermarkets. He also served as Chairman of the Food Marketing Institute's Consumer Market Research Committee for many years, as well as on the Program Leadership Board of the Food Industry Center at the University of Minnesota. Brian has presented or served as a panelist at numerous industry events including the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) and National Grocers Association (NGA) annual conventions, the Produce Marketing Association's (PMA) Fresh Connections Retail and Fresh Summit conferences, Western Michigan University's Food Marketing Conference, and the Natural Product Expo, just to name a few.
If you would like to speak with a grocery retailer with whom we have worked, it would be our pleasure to put you in touch. Just let us know!
